I had this after my pregnancy and C-section surgery. It was only on one leg.

I found that heat will aggravate it tremendously, so hot tubs, heating pads, etc should be avoided.

Try putting an ice pack on your back twice a day for 20 min each and see if that helps.

I finally used Lidoderm patches on mine, and after two weeks, the nerve finally stopped firing. (I had it for 10 yrs!).

Tight fitting clothes, esp belts and jeans can aggravate MP.

Here is a link to a diagram showing where the lateral femoral nerve exists the abdomen to the thigh. MP only affects this sensory nerve and not the nerve that runs your thigh muscles:
