for pain issues doses on the higher end are usually needed. how much are you taking, and how long have you been on
this dose? it is possible you are not taking enough. you should definitely talk to your doc about these things and i'd do so before d/c'ing. clearly it isn't hurting you either.
Mari is correct about not stopping suddenly: because gabapentin is an antiepileptic, abrupt cessation puts you at a risk for seizures, even if you do not suffer from epilepsy.
