My son has a movement disorder (dystonia) and his first symptom was ataxia (walking like he was drunk). So, balance issues can be symptoms of a movement disorder. In his case, his balance is quite good. He can catch himself before falling 99% of the time, he just looks "off balance" because of the way he walks, if that makes any sense. Is your balance really affected? Do you feel dizzy or disoriented in space? Or is it just what you look like when you walk?
