so this is what I found out.

#1 there is NO monthly fee.

#2 you can rent any movie you choose, and it will hold the start time for 30 days. once you start the movie you have 2 days to watch it. if you dont watch it within 30 days they refund that money.

#3 they are the only rental service that does HDX or truly hi def movies. Crisp sharp clear 1080p with full dolby surround, so if you have a jacked up TV and want an action movie this is the place to be.

#4 you can rest SD (standard digital) HD (hi definition) or HDX (the mother of all hi def) at different prices. The brand new movies that are out tend to be a bit higher in price but you can scale down to SD and pay $3.99 for a movie that is $5.99 from blockbuster or on demand. The same movie (new release) in HDX can be $5.99 (the same as on demand with your cable company) so, its cheaper than on demand. with a better selection.

#5 you can buy any of their movies and it will stay on their server for you to watch anytime you choose. Lets say your family watches Shrek over and over and over why not buy it for $14 instead of renting it? no more scratched discs, lost discs, or wondering if it will play with jelly on it. its all stored on their server, so you never worry about the quality of the disc.

#6 they have a gaggle of movies available for $2 for 2days. Up, Shrek, the list goes on, When harry met sally, and so on.

#7 you can watch the movies on your TV with a special box (they used to be Boxeo) or a special blu ray internet enabled player (which most new ones are) or you can watch it on the computer, laptop or tablets. I dont know if you can transfer a purchased movie to your SD card or not. They also play on Xbox, and PS3 and the handheld nintendo DS and Wii, just like netflix.

#8 they have a buck a day movie. Each day they feature a movie for 99cents. they do a good random pick, and mix it up so its not all sci fi or all docu or drama, its a good round about pick.

So you only pay for the movies you want to watch.

Netflix online has a ton of movies for $7.99 per month, to watch as many as you want, and tons to pick from, but none are new releases, and most take about 7 years to hit the online rental area. There are some great choices tho. I stopped netflix DVD at home service because they went from $1 added to the online plan up to $7.99 for ONE at a time at home limit 3 per month. Also NetFlix DVD doesnt get new releases the same day as DVD in stores. its 28 days later. I am not sure why that changed, but I want to see the new releases NOW not in a month.

I also noticed that Netflix started to slow down. In the early days, you mailed a movie back to them. they got it the next day and the same day they got it, you got another movie from your Queue. Lately they would take 3 or 5 days to tell you they got the movie you mailed back, and would take another day or two to mail you the next movie in line. (they were sued over this twice already) They also make you keep a list of movie you would like to see and its THEIR choice which one to send you. They say they try to pull your #1 pick, but I rarely got my first choice till a good month past its release date in their store. So, they were getting really sloppy with customer service. Even if you only left ONE movie in your Queue it would take them 2 days to send it to you. The final straw was the price hike.

I can watch a movie off of Vudu, or Hulu (which you get for 30 days free if you have internet expl 9 and drag their icon to your task bar. or on demand. I already have HBO to go, and can see any movie from Showtime or the other channels I pay for for free, and dont have to wait for it to come on at a certain time.

Watching movies at home has gotten so much easier.

I am going to watch a movie from them today.
