My doc suggested taking a hand towel and getting it wet, squeezing all the water out, and microwaving until hot. Then put it inside a plastic ziploc and lean against it. It provides that moist heat we crave without the danger of the electric pads. I also have two other heating pads that follow me everywhere I go.
