File for spouse's benefits three months before your 62nd birthday, assuming he is entitled to benefits himself.

If he is getting disability or retirement himself and you are taking care of his minor children, you can get benefits before age 62.

If he is working and not entitled, you cannot qualify on his record. No matter what your friend said.
