Smile I love silver linings.

I’m a big fan of storm clouds with silver linings. I recently witnessed a situation involving just such a cloud.

The State of Connecticut Social Services has a program called ConnPACE. If you qualify (income limit), the state will help you pay for your Rx insurance premiums as well as capping most (but not all) Rx prices to around $16. I qualify mostly because they only take into consideration your income, but have no limit on assets.

This year the Connecticut State Legislature, in its infinite wisdom, decided that people on Medicare are no longer eligible for ConnPACE. This prompted me to search high and low for another program that could help out in the cost of Rx co-pay. What I found is another program that is federally funded. To my amazement this program caps my co-payment for Rx at around $7, AND the program also covers what is in effect a free, federally funded medigap policy. Yes I said FREE. I can now drop my AARP medigap policy.

Of course with all the federal cuts about to befall us all, lord only knows how long this program will last. I’ve decided that I’m not going to worry about that now. I’m sure by the time they cut the program, a cure for MS will have been discovered so I won’t need the drugs any more anyway! Right? Of course right!!
