Erin, maybe I shouldn't tell you, but Consumer Reports September 11 issue has reviews of tablets and e-readers!

I want an I-pad and a Nook Color, but I don't need both. I-pad for ease of use and size of the screen. Nook Color because it does more of what I want at a cheaper price, but smaller screen. I have birthday money burning a hole in my pocket!
