pcslife and others considering applying for Social Security Disability Income, you should seriously consider applying at the earliest possible time. That time is 12 months after your injury. If you keep waiting, your qualifying wage level will decrease causing your monthly benefit to be reduced. My SSDI check is $150 per month less that it would have been had I applied at an earlier time.

roadrunner, congrats on your approval. Now, let things settle for a bit. Make some proforma plans ( hypothetical plans for your future). Let them simmer for a bit then you can make some sound decisions about your future. The elation of a settlement and SSDI approval can be a bit overwhelming. What appears like sound decisions now may become a bit less sound as the years go by.

My wife and I have been trying to make some long term plans. Impulsiveness can get in the way of good judgment.

My best to you.
