I bet that many of the others who you suppose have endured many concussions without any long term symptoms are just hiding or not exposing many of their symptoms. PCS is often more obvious in those with higher intelligence levels. They notice the loss of their high levels of functioning. Also, different people react differently to the various injuries.
There was extensive research done in the 1970's that showed that all subjects who have suffered a concussion will exhibit PCS symptoms when their brains are under stress. If those you speak of have good skills at keeping stress levels low, they can better tolerate their injuries.
Many on this forum exhibit chronic anxiety symptoms. This anxiety just magnifies the PCS symptoms.
Learning to lower both external stressors and internal stressors will go a long way in reducing the level of PCS symptoms.
