I've never been asked to bring pills in, but I am asked for a urine analysis with a detailed account of what meds I took in the previous 3 days, randomly.

Recently I had a report from a physch doc that made it look like I might partake with the 420 crowd. It was nice to be able to say, please refer to my MANY years of drug tests that show I've always been compliant. Not taking too much or too little of what is precscribed, and Nothing Else!

Usually this stuff is just office policy. And nothing to take personally.
