I just don't understand them.

Dear Donna,

There might be some free GED-type classes on line or in your community. You could also consider finding someone in your neighborhood who is good at teaching writing and offer to trade them time. They tutor writing for two hours and you babysit their child two hours a week or something similar.

Perhaps you can find a GED workbook that you and the tutor can do together. Also, generally, the more reading people do, the better they become at writing. Do you read your local newspaper or online sites? Books?

There are free sites on line but you probably would do better with one on one tutoring. My understanding of fragment problems is that they are usually corrected by studying the conventions (rules) of punctuation.
