get some of those little foam earplugs to dampen the sound level.
and think about where to sit to make things easier on you--
way in the back to minimize screen motion effects (tho just closing your eyes works when the picture moves too much),
or my favorite is closer to the front where you walk in to our theatres because going up the stairs to the much higher back will set off my vertigo like crazy (and they have no rails, just the wall, yikes!),
closer to the front accentuates the screen movement necessitating more eye-closing, but higher up means I could fall, and that scares me much worse.
50/50 is probably a good one to start with--less swoopy photography than an action/flying/shooting/racing adventure type movie.
