I joined this forum last month, and I am still trying to learn how to do this.

I am 59 years old and female. I didn't have children, because of having epilepsy, Dr. then advised us not to.

I am taking dilantin and Klonopin and they do have my seizures under control for the most part.

I worked for years - took medic. and went on with life.

On fast forward 40 from when I was diagnosis, How I'm B-12 deficiency, and I think folic acid defic.

I was diagnosis with b-12 dificiency back in 2007 by neur. After taking tablets and getting shots, it took forever to get me where I can function.

NOW I'm dealing w/anger, hysterical, depression, irritable, paranoid, well I guess that all. This is distoring my marriage, friendships.

When this (what ever it is) comes over me, I go off on whoever.

Is feels like I can't stop myself.

My neur. is no good, have an appt. w/ new one next month.

My husband said he thinks I am Bipolar. I heard this word before, but I don't know anything about it.

I am asking for any advise. I have been searching the internet, calling Phar. and TRYING to ask my Dr.

Oh, Yes one more thing, My dr. have started giving me my B-12 shots every 4 days (in sm. amt.) I can not handle the full shot at one time.
first i'd like to direct you to this thread, that talks about bipolar... it is one of the stickies at the top of this page, but you can click on this link to open it also:
Bipolar basics 101...long but really informative

a couple of things come to mind. sometimes when seizures are well controlled emotional symptoms appear. this can also happen as a side effect of certain seizure medications - was there a medication change near when this started happening?

we are all familiar with emotional problems of one kind or another, and not everyone on the board is bipolar, so feel free to join in. as for being bipolar you would need a full evaluation from a psychiatrist regarding that. your b12, folic acid status and other nutrients should be checked and other possible causes (eg. hypothyroidism) for mood disturbances will need to be ruled out. that includes possible medication side effects.

if you don't have a psychiatrist, i'd encourage you to see one about this. it would also help i think to have a counselor to help you cope with these problems, for yourself, and perhaps also for your partner or entire family since all are affected.

i hear you are not satisfied with your neurologist and may be looking to change docs. in this area, i'd recommend, if possible, you seek out an epileptologist - that is a neurologist who specializes in epilepsy. depending on where you live it might be more or less easy to find a specialist of this kind.

anyway take care, keep reaching out and looking for answers. things can get better.
