Here's list of testing & ideas a member put together- they all may not apply in your son's case but it's a good list - pick & choose what might be best for him. With a good TOS drs recommendations also.

Has he had basic work ups already - x rays & MRIs??
these really should be done first just to rule out any obvious spinal issues or anomalies.
Comprehensive blood work up - thyroid?? etc.

I would avoid surgeons unless something shows up that indicates a surgical intervention.
