It does go both ways....
Our dogs have found ways to goof on us as well, providing evidence that they do possess a sense of humor (or at least a desire to elicit certain behaviors).
Both of our Labs took/take great pleasure in running through mud puddles, splashing & covering us with all manner of wet blech, then standing off at a distance and wagging all the harder. Probably anthropomorphizing, but it looks like they're thinking, "Bwahahaha - I got you really good!"
I also think some of them take great delight in poking a cold wet nose in various places....
