Tonkunst,
Anesthisia reduces your breathing and some people have reactions as well as insurance finds it unnecessary. Some biopsies are aspiration. Meaning done with a needle to see what it is made of. If it is a solid nodule they will go in and remove it under sedation. Emla is a topical cream you apply about an hour before your procedure and wrap it in plastic wrap. It numbs the arm, hand or whatever making the insertion of the IV less painful. Ask your Dr. for a prescription several days prior, so you can apply it at home before your procedure. \

What is anesthisia? (Typo?)Is it similar to anestesia? What is emla? I will ask for it, thank you. I had a numbing in the arm before an epidural but that also hurt. How do you know that breast biopsies are always done only with local? A friend told me she was with an IV for a biopsy. ...??? let me know if you find out more. Thanks anyway!!! Adriana
