No doubt. When I was a kid, I had a ball-o-holic dog who did something similar. We didn't have a lot of room to play inside the house in inclement weather, so I'd drop his ball down the basement stairs, and he'd run down and fetch it and bring it back up. He was good for 7-10 trips before he got this look on his face like, "You gotta be kidding!" and just stood at the top of the stairs panting with a kind of glassy stare.... Drop it down again, and it was like, "Ok, buddy... YOU go get it this time!" and he'd go lay down on his rug.

But outside, he'd chase that ball 'til he dropped. He was one of two ball-o-holics I've had. They're quite special.
