I hope you can get another opinion. If what you are doing isn't working, please try to seek out another doctor. I didn't have a good first surgery, so do your homework. My second neruo dr. did a good job. I am fused C3-7. I would not recommend any surgery, unless it is a last resort. It is life changing, and you are never perfect. I do take pain medications still.
