Default Is this double vision?

I know I don't have double vision the same way many of you do. But when I try to focus on an object, I see the object fairly clearly and solid, but then there's just a very thin sliver of "ghosting" (like an old, bad TV picture but not as dramatic) just above the object, the same color as the object, but it's transparent. It's more noticeable at further distances. It's there whether or not I wear my glasses. It's not bad enough to bother me, it doesn't even interfere with reading, and most of the time I can just ignore it. I couldn't even tell you when it started.

Could this be a really mild case of double vision? Or is it just part of getting to that certain age (yes, I'm crossing into bifocal territory.) Not that it matters, except possibly as a clue in getting a diagnosis. When you have double vision, do you have a solid object coupled with a transparent one?

Thanks,
Tatia
