Gee, I just went through a PASSLE of continuing legal education credits because..... well, the ethical person in my profession stays up to snuff.....
SO, guess what!?!?!?!?!?!?! The leading cause of complaints addressed to the office of regulatory counsel of the Supreme Court is...... you got it, five dollars to the lady holding her hand up in row two.... No, the one with the Big Hair!! FAILURE TO COMMUNICATE!! Do you suppose another profession has a licensing authority that might say the greatest and leading cause of complaints is ...........

This is where Rae and Pooh would say, get tough, smack 'em up aside of the head and politely ask for the required attention........ No really, I think they would say something to the effect of give 'em an earful.
Now me, well, I would be inclined to show up,
Sometimes a phone call is a waste,
But then you HAVE just had surgery, give yourself some time, take deep breaths, if stuff is not coming out in violation of the Patient Checkout or Release paperwork and you don't fear incision opening or stuff like that, try to rest, don't get too over gung ho. Such as if Coco is a 200 lb. Mastiff, maybe you should not be holding the leash to walk Coco..... that kind of thing. I tried to pretty much behave after I got out. No ladder climbing. No crawlling under the car, that sort of thing.
