My understanding is that the non medical requirement is to verify you have worked enough to have put in whatever the minimum time is to collect benefits. One thing in my case is that my continued search for a job did muddle the time they set as my disabled date. They based it on when I stopped looking instead of the earlier date that the doctors suggested.
