Google "Winged Scapula causes"- Could be a few things causing this, but more than likely it sounds like Neuralgic Amyotrophy. Usually this presents with pain, but it does not all of the time. Usually it will first be noticed in shoulders, usually one side more than the other. It also can cause leg weakness and atrophy of muscle. If you work out a lot, this could have been a trigger for NA. So it is true that working out while in recovery could cause more damage.
