Yes, it is true. Memory has be a certain kind for each computer.

When my son does our Dell desktop, he looks up our model, and
only gets the type they list to use.

I am sure Jo will be here soon and elaborate...since I really can't do that...with my computer limitation skills.

It has to do with the contacts/prongs on each type and the receiving module.

If you have 3Gig of memory that is pretty good for most purposes.
I only have 1 gig on this one, for example, still!
