It's a tricky message if it said the cable needed connecting. I was thinking yesterday that if the cable was disconnected, your computer wouldn't be working to even get a message.
Anyway, I hope you can find that warranty, Donna.
Some stores here will exchange or fix under warranty if you don't have a receipt, esp. if you paid for it with a credit/debit card as they have that transaction in their system. Just a thought.
