wanting to help my husband
Hello all,
I am a newlywed to a man that has suffered from CRPS for the last 9 years. He received a crush injury to his foot in an industrial accident. He struggles to walk, requires extensive pain medication, and each day is a new battle.
He and I were high school sweethearts 20 years ago! We went our separate ways but as fate had it, we have now found each other again. We have four children between us ages 7-17. I love my husband with everything in me.
It is really difficult to watch him on his bad days. For so long, he would go without medication in order to provide for his kids. Now that we are together, I make sure he gets the meds he needs.
I can take care of logistics and help with the day to day errands and so forth, but sometimes he just gets so down. Over the past year, he has made a lot of improvements as far as his state of mind. He takes better care of himself and is less withdrawn. I have done a lot of research, but I don't have anyone else to talk to about how to better support him. I would appreciate any suggestions that you have.
I know I can't take away his pain, but I want to make sure everything that can be done, is done.
Thanks so much in advance!
