I woke up sick earlier (wondering if that's a reaction to doing PT yesterday, and getting the AFO and doing a bunch of walking, because I feel fine now. Hungry even. Weird. And most of the edema that I've had since those steroids suddenly feels like it's gone. Really weird.)

So, I cant get back to sleep yet, and a little bored at the moment, so I did a little photo shoot of my AFO.

Group photo of both shoes.

and a shot of the bottom of the shoe, you can kind of see where they cut it around the metal and where they glued it back together.

I just lifted up the inside of the shoe to see what it looked like under the little insert in the shoe, and there's three copper bolts in the bottom of the shoe. (two right next to each other at the heel, and one a few inches forward where the arch of my foot would be) They dont come out on the bottom of the shoe and they're flat and dont have anywhere to put a screwdriver, they're under the part of the sole that they glued back onto the bottom. I didnt get any pictures of the bolts because I'd have to take that insert all the way out of my shoe and I dont want to do that, and I only had an hour of sleep before I got sick earlier and I dont have my glasses and can barely see at the moment.

A lot of work went into this thing, but it's really simple. Keeps my foot straight, and keeps my knee stable. I think I'm really impressed with whoever figured out how an AFO works and how to make one.

I think I'm going to sleep a little in my computer chair (close to the door just in case I feel sick again. Strange that I'm hungry now and not feeling ill any more. Really think I felt sick because I did too much yesterday. Some of the numbness I had, I think was related to the edema I've had because some of that numbness let up, and so did the edema)

Enjoy my little photoshoot. Good thing I'm bored and my ipod takes halfway decent pictures.
