I purchased a sleep # bed with the capibility of elevating different positions. I needed this option because of my spine issues and was having difficulty getting/raising myself into a position to get out of bed. I have a walker by my bed so when I raise the bed in the a.m., I reach for the walker and put my body weight on that to help getting out of bed. I just use the walker for that reason only. (otherwise, I usually use a cane. Just the feature of the bed raising has been a great help in my case. Not sure if that would be helpful for your wife. If so, it is helpful to have the ability to raise the head portion of the bed.

I found using, the "0" as a number guide, then holding the number remote in hand, while in bed with blankets on, watching it go to the "35. I was using "40, but found i was having additional pain issues. I am a side sleeper and just had more pain with the #40. My son was having issues (he was using #40) I suggested he try this method and stop at #35. He was surprised how just the going down of 5 made a big difference.

Hope this is some help to you. Choosing a bed/mattress is sooooo difficult.
