MS is sooo tricky! There are more than 100 diseases that can mimic MS including brain lesions! No wonder so many MDs are hesitant to give you that label. Its a process of ruling out stuff. They try the easy stuff first like the vitamin stuff with blood work. The bloods will also show markers for things like lupus, sjoghrens, and other things. if those are normal, they move on to things that show on MRI, such as how many lesions, where are the lesions? do you have body symptoms that match lesion placement? and so forth. Once they rule out all they can rule out with PROOF such as a blood test, they are left with a handful of orphan diseases like Devics, ALS, and so forth. They will pick the disease that is MOST likely to cause YOUR symptoms.

No two MS patients are exactly alike. What makes your feet buzz, may make mine completely numb or what makes me dizzy and off balance may have no effect on you. it all depends on lesion placement, depth, and active levels.

BEFORE you get that label, PLEASE get as much insurance as you can. Life, health, disability...Once you get that label, trust me everyone will turn you down.

Best of luck to you. (( hugs))
