that is an excellent point.
i was at my last job for 18 yrs. all that time i paid for the benefit of long term care insurance. when i got my MS dx i decided to work PT thinking i might prolong my work life, and my income. however, going PT i had to give up the LTI benefit.

the PT didn't work out and i had to resign a couple of months later, and had no benefits. something to think about.

a belated welcome to NT.
i hope your new dr can help you. sometimes it takes time for MS sx's can be dx'd in a way your dr can document. ie: brain, c-spine lesions or spinal fluid changes.

keep working to find answers. don't give up. you're your own best advocate.
and, start keeping a medical file on yourself. it will be important down the road. get copies of your mri's and the reports. ask for copies of your dr's dictation, test reports etc.

let us know how you're doing.
