Default Tips for a Bad Day.

This month so far has been mostly "good" or "okay" days for me. It's been months since I've had "good" days so I almost forgot what it was like to feel that way. Today, I ended up crashing...probably due to watching the Super Bowl, a long conversation and a trip to Walmart yesterday...and I feel horrible.

I started to get frustrated today because I haven't been able to do the things I was able to the past 5 days or so...I'm typing the same word twice, misspelling things (I typed "activing" instead of "acting" earlier in a text), dropping things, fumbling my words in conversation on the phone...then I realized...I'm moving too fast! You can't do that on a bad day....so I came up with some tips for you guys to deal with a bad day and avoid frustration:

So, you had a few good days...feeling almost normal...and then BAM, you wake up one morning feeling horrible! Your fumbling words in conversation, dropping things, misspelling words in a text message, whatever it may be...this is a sign your going to have a bad day. Your brain is probably used to the 2-3 good days you just had so it's still trying to function at that level, but it's failing miserably.

SLLLLLLOOOOWWW DOWN!!!

Your having a bad day...don't get frustrated, this is absolutely normal for someone who is suffering from PCS. Just take it down a couple notches. Your not going to be able to do the things you were able to on those good days. Your gonna fumble your words, your gonna forget things...whatever it is your struggling with. Your probably going to have to take it easy today and lay in bed (if you can). Don't beat yourself up over it, just ACCEPT IT. You'll keep your stress levels down this way which will enable you to have more good days.

That's all I can think of right now...Once I accepted that I was having a bad day and I took it down a notch, I started to feel better. Hopefully this will work for you as well.

Feel free to add to this thread.

What happened: I was randomly assaulted from behind in June of 2011. I was knocked unconscious for an unknown amount of time (less than 30 minutes) and have no memory of the event. CT scan showed contusion and hematoma of the left frontal lobe. I spent 3 days in the hospital. Diagnosed with Post-Concussion Syndrome in September 2011. Currently have Medicaid, Medicare and SSI.

Current symptoms: Brain fog, mild memory issues, problems with spontaneity, occasional spacing out, word finding difficulties, tinnitus in right ear and some other things that I can't explain.

Life after the brain injury: 4 years after the injury, I'm engaged to my beautiful girlfriend of 5 years, I'm the CEO of my own business, Notorious Labs, I've taught myself how to program complex games and apps which is a feat I never thought I'd accomplish and now live a semi-normal life with very mild PCS symptoms.

Slowly but surely regaining my life back.
