It would be worthwhile to get an SSDI application started. They will determine if you are disabled. They do not rely on what your doctor says.
Disability Impairment Ratings are used by the Work Comp claim system. SSDI does not consider any partial disabilities. They only consider how much money you can make working with your current limitations. They do require that it is expected that your current condition will last more than a year. At this point, you will be approaching 8 months by the time your application is into the process, with the normal delays expected. Considering your current condition, I would not bet against your condition lasting beyond one year.
The Docs claim that you will recover has no bearing. The SSDI people will make their own determination. The process of applying will help you better understand your work capabilities.
It also will give you something to move forward with.
I am not trying to scare you about your prognosis. I am just suggesting the SSDI application 'just in case.' You can always stop the application process if you recover before getting approved.
My best to you.
