My husband has had o.c. for fourteen years .He has had the nerve stripped, severed and now he has a peripheral nerve stimulator, which doesn't do much good either. By severing the nerve, more scar tissue will form which in turn will squeeze the nerve even more creating more pain. They have stopped doing this procedure in Canada as it is proven it only increases the pain. The patient develops "phantom pain" which is like losing your arm but the pain still exists. The pain still tries to travel along the nerve but when it reaches the severed part it just hits the end of the nerve trying to complete it's path. The pain is worse than it ever was before.
