While Metformin is good for bringing some normalcy to insulin resistance and beginning diabetes...it has some downsides too.

1) It can lower B12 in many people. So I would suggest you get a B12 level done now.

Over time it may affect your GI tract causing diarrhea, cramping and increased gall bladder activity (which may upset any stones present, or any problems with the sphincter at the gall bladder duct).

But for now it is working for you. Don't be surprised if side effects occur later on down the road. This drug can be hard to handle long term.
