Kenjhee,
Great find.
Sounds very promising for those who have the bundled axon fiber injuries. At least from a diagnostic viewpoint. It does not appear to provide any information that can help with healing.
Unfortunately, it appears that it will not help those of us with diffuse axonal injuries. We don't have bundles of injured axons. Instead, we have thousands of damaged or weakened axons in larger areas of the brain. The high Tesla MRI's will show the microscopic damage but still not change our recovery.
The ability to understand the severity of the injury will help because they can focus the therapy for the treatable injuries. The doctor was able to understand why a patient was not recovering a specific function. As the doctor commented about Skunkards disabled hand <Okonkwo says those nerve fibers were too far gone for repair. >
When they can start to understand the severity of diffuse axonal injuries so as to prognose recovery levels, many more will be able to understand their injuries.
We can always hope.
