First thing that comes to my mind...
Move TV, radio, video games (anything loud or visually stimulating) OUT of shared family areas or turn them off most of the time so DH can be with the family without having his brain assaulted. My MIL (who was dying of cancer) had the TV on in the living room all the time. I understood that it was a good way for her to pass the time, but it ended up restricting me to my bedroom. I couldn't spend much time with the family.
Will think about it more and post back...
