many, many medication cause fluid retention. Also I think us women are more prone to this condition, also. I have edema in my left ankle but not the right...dr. says it just means my left kidney doesn't work as hard as the right one for some reason. Glad to hear you're drinking water as it's often cut back on thinking it'll help reduce retention but drinking is better. I try to drink more water but get tired of having to always know where the bathroom is

Diuretics are helpful but be careful as they can cause kidney and/or liver problems. Also, dry skin problems.

I put on 30 pounds when I was on constant dose of Lodine several years ago, so understand how it can be a bummer. My "stretchy" pants are always nearby for those times when I don't even want to think about trying to get into my jeans
