This normally happens because we change the balance of our guts, and most of the good bacteria that keep things in check gets knocked down. We can also end up this way when our bowels speed up and we push out stomach acid with the contractions that come with diarrhea instead of it staying IN the stomach where it belongs.
Eating yogurt helps to reculture your gut. Some folks use the lactobacillus or acidopholus pills. Some folks use it as a creme for their sore back door. Others say eeeewwww!
Keep the area clean, cool and dry. Sometimes it can come from wearing diapers and keeping all the heat and moisture stuck inside your pants. Skin likes to breathe. Run around your house without any panties on and let the air in. if you leak, sit on a pad on the chair and get up frequently to allow air to the area.
Buttpaste is great! so is desitin, and other such things. Try washing the area gently a couple of times per day and allowing it to air dry.
Its a miserable condition. I hope you feel better.
My mom threw in a chestnut of rubbing pepto bismal on the affected area. Since pepto calms stomach acid and soothes sore irritate tissues inside the tummy it should work on a sore bottom. She swears it did magic things for her kids growing up.
