I used to turn it off when DH was here, but now it's on 24/7. Having it on low helps me go to sleep. If it wakes me and I turn it off, in about 10 min. I have to turn it back on, or I can't get back to sleep.
Sometimes, if I am anxious at the obnoxious sounds, i turn off the sound and read the captions, until I fall asleep. I think I sleep longer without the sound.
