Dear Bizi
i hope that storm is kind to you.
I dealt with flash flooding in California. it happened about every winter because it would rain non-stop for like 2 weeks, and the ground there was so dry (never rained rest of the year) it couldn't absorb the water.
it is not fun!
one time it was particularly bad. i did not have sandbags and had water creeping up my doorsteps. it completely covered the lawn, my porch (a step up in concrete), and there were 2 steps to my apartment. luckily it didn't get past the second step... (but only by an inch!!!

)
streets became rivers. foiled my attempt to go to my night-time hangout ... my favorite Barnes and Noble. "can't get there from here" dealy. approaching where i would have made a
left turn, i came to a huge lake where the intersection should have been. A poor traffic cop was standing in the middle of the "lake," getting everyone to turn
right, as that was the only direction where the water tapered off.
i didn't dare trying alternative (and possibly unmonitored) roads to B&N, especially after my brakes had that nice swim. i back tracked, traversing the stupid lake again to get back home. no coffee, no yummy 5000 calorie lemon pie, no bookbrowsing, no card-browsing... just wet brakes (andthensome probably).
