In CA, for example, they will sometimes match your SSI benefit. You should check in to housing options as well. Some areas give priority to those with disabilities. If you can get accepted into section 8, you can use it to move anywhere you want in the US.

thanks Love. I am still eligible for SSDI. I just had to reapply, since the 60 days expired for me to appeal...they sent the letter regarding SSI. I just began a new application for SSDI. I am on a Section 8 waiting list which is very long. I am still fighting...I think the 1st application I really didn't know what I was doing and what was required in order to get a favorable ruling. I lacked sufficient medical history with my application and was very vague and general (although I thought I was giving them what they wanted). I feel better about this time around because I am very thorough and am not leaving anything to chance or anyone else to handle. I follow up on everything.
