Hi Bdancer,

Is this dental implant replacing a tooth that had been root canaled? Why did the first implant fail... was there an infection?

Pain in the jaw after the placement of an implant is normal ....meaning other teeth can hurt from the referred pain. Unless that front tooth is infected, it wouldn't be advantageous to rush in and have it treated. If the area of the implant is not feeling a lot better by tuesday or wednesday, it may be a good idea to have your dentist take a look and an xray.

I feel like the tooth in front of the implant may need a root canal. My highly regarded orodontist upped the Advil dose over the phone last night.

When he did the implant he said my bone seemed to not offer the usual resistance.

This is my 2nd implant attempt as the 1st failed for an unknown reason. The first procedure went smoothly with nothing unusual.

Any ideas regarding what the problem might be?
