it is good that you have a place you can trust.

implants are very expensive and not maintenance free either. i don't want to worry you but it really depends how skilled the person planning/fitting them is, AND how skilled the technician is who molds the actual piece. the supports are fitted into your jaw bone and are permanent. if there is any issue with them - placement or whatever, they can't usually move it because they can't make too many holes in the bone. i mean they can remove a support if they must, but to my knowledge it is seldom possible to add one nearby to "replace it." they usually have to work with whatever they have got. everyone's mouth is different and so there is a a bit of design work each time, even though i am sure they have basic templates. then there are the actual molded teeth that go onto the supports. i know someone who had several implants done at different times - with mixed experiences. in the first one the fitting of the supports was fine, but the pieces were too large and it was uncomfortable. they eventually broke and required gluing... etc... specialist visits. in another experience, they set a support in at an angle... nothing to be done. it was suboptimal but had to be used that way. there can be need for more frequent cleanings too, often deep cleanings.

i would definitely read up on implants before moving on that - and not just the costs.

the dentures might be a bother in terms of adherence, but they are probably coming out with improved adhesives all the time - something to check into. i think they are less expensive in the long term, but i am not sure since i have no idea how frequently replacement is needed, how much cleaning fluids cost, etc..

but one sure-fire advantage of dentures is, even if you get a bad one, your mouth is intact.
not so with implants. so, personally, implants rather scare me.

I am getting back with a former friend which is very nice. I used to speak to her every day on the phone and then we had a falling out. I don't remember why. I think it is either one or two years.
oh that is great to hear! i wonder if it is who i think it might be. anyway, i am happy for you.
