Also, from a psychological point in terms of being a survivor of trauma - I've read that it's advised to refer to injuries and traumas as "the" injury instead of "my" because if a person takes ownership (by using the word "my") it may be more difficult to let go of the experience in terms of how long one may be traumatized by it.
