I'm thinking you just need to give this more time. Nine weeks is not a long time for brain injury recovery. The statement that you are "beginning to want intimacy" seems like a positive sign. An unpleasant, awkward, or painful intimate session will likely be more of a setback than an advance in your recovery. Give it time.

This may be TMI but as a male recovering from TBI and other injuries it was at least 6 months before I could even have an erection, partly from emotional difficulty and partly due to injury in the pelvic area causing low T. Thanks to the pharmacology industry for testosterone replacements and Levitra our sex life is more or less back to normal, but then again my injury was a year and a half ago.

What Happened: On November 29, 2010, I was walking across the street and was hit by a light rail commuter train. Result was a severe traumatic brain injury and multiple fractures (skull, pelvis, ribs). Total hospital stay was two months, one in ICU followed by an additional month in neuro-rehab. Upon hospital discharge, neurological testing revealed deficits in short term memory, executive functioning, and spatial recognition.

Today: Neuropsychological examination five months post-accident indicated a return to normal cognitive functioning, and I returned to work approximately 6 months after the accident. I am grateful to be alive and am looking forward to enjoying the rest of my life.
