1000 IU every other day is not going to do much.

The general rule is 1000IU DAILY for every 10 points you need to raise. (in US measurements)

So given a target of 50 you'll need 4000IU D3 daily.

People with more fat on their bodies tend to need higher doses than that.

It is sad but true, that doctors will test you, and then not treat the results adequately. That is just the way it is now. Perhaps eventually they will learn...

Some people are slow to respond to D supplements. Getting retested in 3-6 months will show if your dose is working for you.
