When I started Lyrica, I gained 20 lbs. Over the course of the year I lost half that once I was more active and back to work. Then I was put on neurontin and gained 20 more. I have not been able to lose that yet but I am hopeful that once I return to work that I will be able to get SOME of it off. I have changed my diet and am eating much healthier but it has made no difference in my weight.
I think a bigger issue for those of us with RSD is that many of us just aren't active enough. I am more active now that I was the past year but until I get back to work I won't be at anywhere near the activity level I was at prior to the weight gain. I also think Gabby is right that there may be some fundamental change to our bodies. I never had weight issues before I started taking the Lyrica and I could eat whatever I wanted and never exercise. That certainly has changed...but so has so much in my life because of RSD and I don't know the cause. But I DO know that almost immediately after starting the two different drugs I gained the weight within a couple weeks. And being 30 lbs heavier now than I ever have been in my life has caused a number of other issues for me physically too.
