Welcome!

Your granddaughter sounds EXACTLY like my daughter was.

They told me initially that she had infant acne, then eczema(sp?) then we found out what it actually was. It was/is a whole body (almost) skin condition called (something) polaris. It's basically extreme dry skin accompanied by allergies. The skin area gets really red with bumps, etc. That's why they thought it was eczema. However, it was/is widespread and not patches.

There's nothing that can be done for my daughter's condition except to watch the perfumed things for allergies and to moisturize. They said it's usually hereditary and asked me about my skin when younger. Sure enough, I had the same thing but in a milder form, and sure enough...I did outgrow it in my late 30's.

My daughter just had bumps all over face with really red cheeks, on her upper arms and some on upper torso and upper legs. It was also indicative of the many environmental and other allergies she had/has as they go hand in hand. My daughter's condition first appeared at about 5-6 weeks.

There was no way to manage all her allergies and she had to have a sinus endoscopy at 9 years old!

I wish you well and hope you keep us posted.

Good luck!

KD
