How about cool tap water? of course, you cant exactly elevate it and put it in water at the same time without making a soggy mess. Wet washcloth maybe? no ice.
At least elevating it, that will probably reduce some of the swelling. I had a lot of sprained ankles when I was younger. Used to roller skate a lot and when I tripped and fell it usually involved a sprain.
