I got started on amitriptyline at 25 mgs also. For the first couple of weeks I could hardly wake up. I slept all night, got up and ate a meal, then fell asleep on the sofa for the day. The fatigue did get better over time as I got more used to it, and it did help prevent the headaches.
Taking this was what allowed me to take my first steps back to "normal life."
I would give it a couple of weeks and then see how you feel. In my experience, the side effects get better after the first few days.
